hometown tour

Wednesday, June 4, 2014

today i'm linking-up for a fun little post for #thecreativecollective!  this week it's all about being a tourist in your hometown.  being that i just moved back home, this prompt was the perfect!

i've lived in this town for 22-years, mind you.  but it was still kinda awkward to walk around with a camera, taking pictures of places i've been to hundreds of times.  this prompt really helped me get away from the table and out of my comfort zone.

so, without further ado: Amery, Wisconsin
amery is know as the city of lakes.  since i was pretty sure most of y'all have seen a lake, i decided to walk over by the river to see the big red bobber.  yep, we have one of those too, don't you?

oh, you also don't have a cafe named after a goat?  Ida Mae's is the best place to go for breakfast in town!  being a small town, everyone knows everybody--and that's no different here.  shout-out to their best waitress, my Aunt Heather :)

for those hot summer days, there is only one place to be: Ellie's.  being connected to the drug store in town, this place literally has it all, and by all i'm obviously referring to their rotation selection of ice cream flavors.  and, a junior dish is only a dollar!

perhaps the gem of this small community is the theatre.  you won't find the latest hollywood blockbuster here though.  it was recently restored to it's olden glory and now shows classic films for five dollars.  i'm really looking forward to their upcoming showing of Charade (1963) starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant.

and, a tour of my hometown wouldn't be complete without my favorite place: la post office.  ice cream is great but snail mail is better.  buying stamps or mailing a package, it's always my favorite errand to run :)

so there you have it, my hometown.  though sometimes i miss the convinces of the city, i'm enjoying all the fresh air and friendly faces.
